
Ontario Blues Summer Program Overview 2023

(WHITBY, ON) - Rugby Ontario is pleased to announce important information and key dates for the 2023 Ontario Blues Provincial Programs
U16 (2007/2008) Girls Regional Selects Information and Overview
The U16 Girls Regional Selects Program (birth years 2007/2008) will begin open talent ID session in their respective regions on April 30th and May 14th. On June 11th there will be an invite only long list selection camp for the top 25 spots in each region. Final selections will be made after the June 11th selection camp. Each regional team will have one additional training session on June 18th. The top 25 athletes from each region will play in a regional tournament on June 30th and July 1st at Fletcher’s Fields in Markham, Ontario. These athletes will be competing for the top 25 U16 Provincial Team spots going to the Western Canadian Championships in Calgary, Alberta from July 30th-August 6th. The deadline to register for the open talent ID session is April 28th, 2023. Rugby Ontario will not be accepting registrations on the day –all athletes must be pre-registered. All sessions are from 9am until 4pm with in class components. Please pack snacks, lunches and bring plenty of water. Athletic Therapists will arrive for 8am should you need to be taped. Check in will begin at 7:30am.

Both (East & West) U17 Girls Regional Selects Programs (birth year 2006), in partnership with Rugby Canada, will begin their regional open talent ID sessions on April 30th at Queens University in Kingston, Ontario and May 14th at Fletcher’s Fields in Markham, Ontario. These athletes will be participating in regional tryouts while also having the opportunity to be identified by the Canada U18 East Head Coach Jenn Russell for their upcoming competitions. On June 11th there will be an Open Talent ID session in each respective region in the East and West. On June 18th there will be an invite only selection camp. Final selections will be made after the June 18th selection camp. Each regional team will have two additional training sessions on July 2nd and July 16th. The top 26 athletes from each region will be competing at the Eastern Canadian Championships in St. John's, Newfoundland from July 30th-August 6th. The deadline to register for the open talent ID session is April 28th, 2023. Rugby Ontario will not be accepting registrations on the day – all athletes must be pre-registered. All sessions are from 9am until 4pm with in class components. Please pack snacks, lunches and bring plenty of water. Athletic Therapists will arrive for 8am should you need to be taped. Check in will begin at 7:30am.
