Jumpstart Project Update: Youth-Engage 2023
February 10th, 2023
(WHITBY, ON) - As part of the Build Belonging and Support the Club Community Pillars of our 2022-2025 Strategic Plan, Rugby Ontario (RO) is looking to develop and implement strategies aimed at eliminating barriers to player and non-player participation and retention and to enable opportunities for players to remain lifelong members through rugby involvement. Youth-Engage is specifically looking to support youth in the rugby community to navigate entry into roles as coaches and match officials (MO).
Youth-Engage will provide support and clarity for pathways to non-player roles. We are looking for young people to join a 2023 cohort of budding professionals in rugby!
In addition, Youth-Engage project assistant, Tess Armstrong, will coordinate registration into MO and coach courses, and help to identify opportunities for participants to develop these new non-player skills! Thanks to support from a Community Development Grant from Jumpstart through Sport Canada’s Community Sport for All Initiative, funding is also available to ensure this opportunity is accessible for all interested youth.
