Government of Ontario Announces New Proof of Vaccination Plan
September 2nd, 2021
(WHITBY, ON) -Rugby Ontario continues to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on our collective Return to Play efforts. The organization has made it a priority to provide regular updates for our membership to ensure the sport of rugby in Ontario is in compliance with government and public health orders.
On September 1st, the Government of Ontario announced its decision to implement a proof of vaccination system for select settings, as part of its continued effort to reduce the risks of COVID-19. This directive will require proof of vaccination (two doses plus 14 days) for access to select indoor facilities used for sports, recreational and fitness activities (with the exception of youth recreational sport), beginning on September 22nd, 2021.
Rugby Ontario has been continuously monitoring this subject, and will conduct a full review of the relevant government regulations and consult with the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism & Culture Industries to determine the requirements for sport. The Rugby Ontario Return to Play Plan and resources will be updated and appropriate guidance will be provided for our membership as soon as possible.
