Rugby Ontario Provincial Summer Training Program 2021

July 12th, 2021

(WHITBY, ON) - Rugby Ontario is excited to announce the roll out of its Provincial Summer Training Program for 2021. This year, the program will be aligned across all three regions of the province - West, Central & East.

The Provincial Summer Training program was launched in 2020 in place of traditional provincial 15s programming, to provide aspiring young players an opportunity to safely train in an elite provincial environment.  Training is conducted within the scope of the Provincial Return to Play Guidelines and led by provincial and national coaches. In 2020, the program was successfully launched with over 200 athletes participating out of Victoria Fields in Whitby.

All training will take place on Sundays. For players located in Kingston and further east, training will be held in Ottawa, while training for players in the West and Central will take place in Guelph and Whitby respectively.

Advantaged to regional programming:

* Development of consistent and identical high-performance training programs regionally

* Equal opportunity for selection and identification by coaches & managers for programs such as:

    * Rugby Canada Development Academy

    * Ontario Blues Junior Arrows Academy

    * Ontario Blues Jr Provincial teams travelling in the fall of 2021 and spring of 2022

    * Home and away tournaments, domestic and foreign

    * Fall 7s series (pending public health guidelines)

* Training with Provincial and National coaches

* Reduced Travel Time

Central and West

Training in the West and Central will run on Sundays from July 11th – October 3rd with no training scheduled on long weekends.  Training will run between 3:00pm and 5:00pm.

East

The EORU Jr Rep staff members have been working with Rugby Ontario for the past two years to align our programs, and are happy offer programs running in full sync this year. The EORU summer program is accepting players who are registered and engaged with their home clubs and have been training with EORU Jr Rep during the past year. We are also interested in seeing new players come on board, particularly those who’ve just moved to Ottawa and have heard about our program through high schools. The Program is open to rugby athletes born in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.

1. This high-performance training is in addition to the twice-weekly club training you’re already engaged in, and the EORU Jr Flag Rugby League which will kickoff soon. The Academy is not open to athletes not registered and engaged with their home clubs.

2. Complete and sign an athlete Code of Conduct (info below).

The deadline to pay is July 15, 2021. EORU Jr Rep is committed to delivering a fully accessible program. If you require financial assistance, please contact leeellenrugby@gmail.com in confidence.

Training will run weekly until the end of August when we take a short break for our athletes heading to post-secondary institutions.

We will resume in September and since we will be seeing so many graduates leave and are expecting an influx of new-to-EORU Jr Rep Academy players, we will open registration once again then.
