(WHITBY, ON) - Rugby Ontario is excited to announce our first-ever Flag Rugby House League for children ages 6 to 11. The program will be hosted at Whitby Shores Public School on Tuesday nights from 6:15pm-8:30pm.
The program is split into two age groups based on the second and third stages of the Sport For Life Long-Term Athlete Development Model; FUNdamentals Flag Rugby, which will run from 6:15pm – 7:15pm for children aged 6 to 8 years old and Learn To Train Flag Rugby which will run from 7:30pm – 8:30pm for children 9 to 11 years old.
FUNdamentals Flag Rugby will focus on introducing the very basics of rugby through various fun, safe and inclusive games and activates. The program will focus on introducing the ideas of teamwork and the basics of human movement.
Learn To Train Flag Rugby will focus on further developing children’s rugby skills through small-sided rugby based games, while continuing to improve the fundamental movement skills of the participants. The program will focus on developing teamwork leading to the application of skill in a semi-competitive format.
