
Rugby Ontario and Abilities Centre hosting Physical Literacy Workshop in March
We've partnered up with the Abilities Centre and the Government of Ontario to provide a professional development opportunity for rugby coaches, coordinators, staff and school-based professionals to acquire the tools necessary to include people with physical and intellectual disabilities within rugby clubs and school rugby programs. The date of this workshop is March 25, 2018.
Schedule for the day:
9:00 – 9:10 | Welcome and Introductions |
9:10 – 11:15 | Inclusive Physical Literacy Classroom Presentation and activities (Theatre)

11:15 – 11:30 | BREAK |
11:30 – 1:00 | Practical (on-court) session demonstrating skill and game variations that increase inclusion with a focus on rugby. |
1:00 – 2:00 | Lunch (provided) |
2:00 – 2:45 | Small group planning session for practical component.

2:45 – 3:00 | BREAK |
3:00 – 4:30 | Application of variations to rugby activities (peer-learning on-court) - Each group will teach a rugby activity, developed in the previous session, incorporating the variations to increase inclusion of participants with disabilities. |
4:30 – 5:00 | Wrap up and departure (Theatre) |
When: Sunday March 25th from 9-5.
Where: Abilities Centre, Whitby.
The workshop is free attend and there are funds available to reimburse the cost of travel. Accommodation is also available on request for those traveling long distances.
