Blues Sr. Women/U20: Blues victorious in scrimmages vs. Quebec

(BELLEVILLE, ON) - The Ontario Blues Sr. Women's team and Under-20 team hosted Quebec on Sunday for a pair of scrimmages at Mary Ann Sills Park in Belleville. Both Blues squads were victorious as the U20s opened up the day with a 56-12 victory and the Senior team followed that up with a 34-17 win.

Blues 56 (10) - 12 (2) Quebec

While we were perhaps a little more experienced than Quebec, tough wet conditions made the handling sloppy at times, and equalized the first 30 minutes. As the game progressed, our players gained more focus, adjusted to the conditions and executed our game plan more effectively.
Forwards - Genevieve Kasa-Vubu, Amara Hill, Taryn McLachlan, Taylor Price, Bri English, Abby Refausse, Hannah Greenwood and April Wright in particular lead by example and set a solid attacking platform with plenty of forward momentum.
Backs - Madi Cahoon, Jasmine Ing, Sammy Nadeau, and Michaela Knowles all had strong outings and created many opportunities for those around them. Both half backs Mikaela Irving and Taylor Delaney controlled the game effectively with good decision making overall.

Blues 34 (5) - 17 (3) Quebec

Our Senior Blues executed our attack and defensive systems with discipline, focus and enthusiasm on Sunday. The match was an extraordinary team effort with athletes constantly supporting each other in wet and muddy conditions. The Senior Blues coaching staff was pleased to see the Senior Blues athletes make excellent decisions in contact, set piece and attack over the course of the match.
